Decided to start watching one Bruce Willis movie every night through the new year. Starting off tonight with “The Jackal” (1997). Saving Hudson Hawk (one of my top 10 all time favorite movies) for the turn of the new year.

My hopes were pretty low on trying this NA bourbon but I was pleasantly surprised. Worked well as a whiskey sour and straight, on the rocks.

A glass is filled with NA bourbon from "Free Spirits Non-Alcoholic Bourbon."

Finally played a little today. I started listening to David Gilmour’s new album about a week ago. This song (Between Two Points) is something else, had been something like 20 years since I first heard it and Romany Gilmour just shatters and cyclones through all emotions with her performance.

The Daylight DC1 arrived! Excited to put it through its paces during the holiday. Digging the screen so far.

A software update screen for Daylight DC1 shows a progress message indicating 34% completion.

It’s not even December yet but my mind is taking me to New Year’s, when I make my one Manhattan for the year, sip and reflect on the past year and think about next year’s possibilities.

My friends made a nice song, I think you’ll like it.

I appreciate that Bluesky is growing. I occasionally skim it and find the vibe in general to be good. I still prefer owning my feeds and posts via micro.blog and cross posting from here as appropriate. I did request Openvibe devs to consider micro.blog support (it’s just a nice app).

I’ve been fairly introspective over the election and not seeking out too much online around it, I’m glad I came across these gems:

Jon Stewart has an excellent interview with Heather Cox Richardson on the election.

John Gruber’s writing is on a whole new level

#

I’ve resorted to just have the election live updates from Apple News on my phone home screen instead of watching live. Gave the kid a bath, brushed his teeth, set him to bed. Only checked now where we are at. Now back to figuring out a movie to watch and not looking at my phone until snack break.

Moving to a small town in Nebraska after so many years in Seattle makes voting (in person!) feel extra special. Hearing the folks around me hanging out after voting, talking about dinner, family, how young so and so is doing, absolutely no contention or anger. Community is where it’s at.

Eradicate this phrase….please

A single site was responsible for 60% of our IV fluid supply. It’s bananas that we allowed this by virtue of being ignorant of its existence.

2024 continues to be…weird.

I look at my 4 year old boy and I find it incredibly heart wrenching that I cannot figure out a way for him not to have to go through this.

From Dan Sinker

Asked the kid what his highlights from school were today and after kickball at lunch and gym he said "and we had a lockdown drill today, which is the best drill because you get to hide in the corner in the dark with your friends" and I'd like out of this collective nightmare please.

I had no idea that UsaFacts.org was a thing nor that Steve Ballmer was behind it until I listened to Jon Stewart interviewing him. I’m impressed that he took this on and I love the format of the site.

Thoughts on the iPhone 13 mini after two days: bloody amazing. Time to sell off the 13 Pro Max I’ve carried these past two years.

I am first in line to celebrate the demise of twitter and I have a hunch it won’t be long. This situation in Brazil though, is not the blessing that people believe it to be. This sets a bad precedent for Brazilians and internet availability in general.

Ok, I get that there are layers here, but not lawyers because #Musk failed to appoint one by the deadline heyoooooo 🥁

The most important layer being that I have next to zero understanding of the events and politics involved with #Twitter and #Brazil.

All I want to point out is: look how easy it is to ban Twitter. You just need a judge to be like "lol you're awful and everyone knows it. Bye"

We could do this people. We could be the change we want to see in the world.

Man, this hits hard. Arstechnica and AnandTech were the primary drivers for me in my tech education in the late 90s. RIP AnandTech

End of an era. I literally started reading this site in middle school. RIP. anandtech.com/show/21542/end-o

I haven’t recorded in a bit. Was futzing around with tuning, it can be meditative at times to tune a drum and other times it’s the most frustrating thing one can go through.

Glad to see Apple are finally selling the refurbished iPhone 13 mini. Just placed my order to downsize from my 13 Pro Max. Portability, music, reduced screentime, and texting. Those are my goals. No YouTube, minimal web browsing (probably just NetNewsWire and micro.blog feeds).
